A beach house located on the ocean presents special challenges in order to maximize views while still having strength to resist maximum wave and wind forces. Harris Engineering designed a concrete driven pile foundation system, supporting a concrete first floor structural slab. The ocean view windows resist wind and seismic forces using a steel moment frame. The garage walls use special blow out connections to relieve pressure during a maximum wave event.
