Harris Engineering  was founded in 1967 by Tom Harris, Sr. During the development and growth of the firm, he also taught engineering and construction technology classes at Moorpark College from 1967 until 1995.


Tom Harris, Jr., joined Harris Engineering in 1982 after working for the City of Oxnard building department as a plan check engineer.
